It’s always easier to fix what bothers me, what’s missing than bring an brand new idea to life; but that what excites me, the struggle, the thrill and the fact that I religiously draft on my pocket version of creative journal. So I can come up with ideas when working under pressure.
2. UX research:
Step 1
Set goals for organization, for users, for the website.
Step 2
User research, survey and interview with potential users or identify the niche, build user’s persona, build persona’s storyboard.
3. Product definition:
What
What’s special about my product or brand that engages users?
Why
Why would people believe in the concept behind it?
Who
Who are we serving? and are we making positive, meaningful impact on people’s lives or we making it convenient for them?
4. Content research:
Freedom + Ingenuity + Perseverance
Content research is literally the holy grail and foundation of the entire creative process to me. I got into the habit of collecting everything that caught my eyes for mood board: the palette, typeface, layout, component, texture, shape, concept, music you name it.
5. Cart Sort & Wireframe:
Cart Sort is like poker, it’s a game of skill, not purely luck.
Card sort and wireframe: Once I have a clear understanding of my persona’s ability to access information and know what to prioritize for the site, I start to card sort the content in order to fit my persona’s needs.
6. Prototype
I spend 70% of time researching and worrying about how to present the site in a creative way, and 30% of time I actually sit down and do it.
To translate everything from paper (post it) to website, I prototype with Adobe XD, UI kit, wordpress that are easy to make updates or changes and allows me to focus on the content more than the details that I can always modify later on. Beside, I can make modifications of the responsive design easily.
7. Testing
Designer testing
I ensure all the URL, pages, links and responsive design are functioning well. The site structure is easy to navigate and is presented to users in an organized way through the entire site.
User testing
I ask users to access the site, and give me feedback on what’s great features they like about the site, what puzzles them, what can I do to prioritize to better suit their needs for the site.
